EPH is fundamental for two reasons: a) theoretical value of EPh – models can be considered valid only insofar as they are adequate explanans of their explanandum, and therefore an accurate description of the explanandum (the perceptual phenomenon as it occurs under observation) is fundamental; b) applied value of EPh for products’ design and development – EPh can help us to explain why we like something, i.e. what are the perceptual characteristics that are associated with perception of precise expressive qualities, that drive our preferences.
